So we've covered what the theme of the competitions is, it's time to create and learn about the types of files you can submit.

Community Projects

A Community Project is an initiative that promotes community action towards environmental solutions – this can be in your school, town, or any clubs, etc. that you’re a part of. You simply need to create a project proposal outlining an environmental project you wish to start in your community – what do you want to achieve, how will you do it, how much will it cost and what are your limitations, etc.

Visual Arts

Any ‘Visual Art’ will be considered for entry into this category, including (but not limited to): photography, film, sculpture, watercolour, paintings, etc.

Music & Literature
​

​
​
Music genres of all types will be considered for entry into this category, including (but not limited to): pop, rock, indie, folk, rap, classical etc.
Furthermore, Literature of all types will also be considered for entry into this category. Including (but not limited to): short stories, poetry, magazine-style articles, etc.

Submission Requirements for All Categories:

Submissions into all categories must include a written statement of up to 200 words
-
Any works inspired by other artists, or any facts which have been included, etc. must be included in a bibliography and cited correctly where applicable

The use of copyrighted materials is prohibited, and the project must not contain anything that is obscene, defamatory, indecent, unlawful, disrespectful or offensive

​Community Project Submission Requirements:

Your file should be in a PDF, DOC, or PPT format, and not exceed 20MB in size

All entries must be in English, or a translation into English must be provided
-
This project is not fictional! All submissions should be put forward with the view that the project will be in place within 6 months of the closing date of the competition – prize winners are expected to implement their project with the support of Earthwatch and may be asked to give updates on the project’s process to be uploaded onto the Earthwatch website

Visual Arts Submission Requirements:

We accept digital images of artwork in a JPG, PNG, GIF or PDF format – please also note that we are unable to accept .zip files

Up to 3 images (or angles) of any Visual Arts entry may be submitted – with the exception of any Film entries where a screenshot must be submitted along with the YouTube URL for your project – any YouTube submissions are to be Public and must have adverts/monetisation switched off

Short-Film entries should be no longer than two minutes in length

Your submissions must be of a high resolution and be easy to view. The total size of your submission must not exceed 20MB (if submitting images)

Music & Literature Submission Requirements:

For Literature submissions, your file should be in a PDF, DOC, or TXT format, and not exceed 20MB in size; you may use up to 800 words, but no less than 100

For Music submissions, a screenshot must be submitted along with a YouTube URL for your entry – any YouTube submissions must be Public and must have adverts/monetisation switched off (please also note that you must be visible for the majority of the video) – music submissions cannot be longer than 4 minutes and 30 seconds
